Recover Right: Saunas, Ice Baths, and Nutrition

Recovery is a crucial part of any training regimen, especially when it comes to running. At Body Factory Bali, we offer state-of-the-art recovery facilities to help you bounce back after a tough run.

Saunas and Ice Baths: After your Sunday run or any intense training session, take advantage of our sauna and ice baths. Alternating between heat and cold therapy helps to reduce inflammation, soothe sore muscles, and accelerate recovery. The sauna increases blood circulation, which helps to remove metabolic waste from your muscles, while the ice bath reduces muscle temperature, helping to prevent injury and decrease post-run soreness.

Nutrition for Runners: Fueling your body correctly is just as important as the run itself. A balanced diet rich in carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats is key to sustaining your energy levels and aiding in recovery. Start your day with a nutrient-dense breakfast, like oats with fruit and nuts, or a smoothie packed with greens, protein, and healthy fats. Post-run, focus on replenishing your glycogen stores with complex carbs, and repair your muscles with lean protein sources like chicken, fish, or plant-based alternatives. All of these dishes, bowls, shakes and snacks can be found at Body Factory Bali Cafe or inside BFB in the Recovery Poolside Bar.

At Body Factory Bali, we also offer personalized meal plans to help you optimize your nutrition for running. Our expert nutritionists can guide you on what to eat before and after your runs to maximize performance and recovery.

Tips for Beginner Runners

Starting a running journey can be intimidating, but with the right approach, anyone can become a confident runner. Here are some tips to help you get started:

  1. Start Slow: Don’t rush into long distances or fast paces. Begin with short, easy runs, and gradually increase your distance and intensity as your fitness improves. A good rule of thumb is to increase your weekly mileage by no more than 10% to avoid injury.
  2. Invest in Good Shoes: The right pair of running shoes can make all the difference. Visit a specialty store to get fitted for shoes that suit your foot type and running style. Proper footwear will provide the support you need and help prevent injuries.
  3. Warm-Up and Cool Down: Always start your run with a warm-up to prepare your muscles and joints. A few minutes of walking or dynamic stretches can help prevent injuries. After your run, cool down with some light stretching to aid recovery and improve flexibility.
  4. Listen to Your Body: It’s important to pay attention to how your body feels during and after your runs. If you experience pain, especially in your joints or muscles, take a break and allow yourself time to recover. Running should challenge you, but it should never cause pain.
  5. Join a Community: Running with others can keep you motivated and make the experience more enjoyable. If you’re in Canggu, joining the Body Factory Bali & Continuum Athletics Run Club is a great way to stay committed to your new running habit.

Running is a journey, and whether you’re just starting out or looking to improve your performance, Body Factory Bali is here to support you every step of the way.
