One of the first questions every HYROX athlete asks is:
"What is a good HYROX time?"
The answer isn't as simple as looking at the winner's finish.
A competitive time for an elite athlete is very different from what most first-time racers should expect.
Whether you're aiming to finish your first HYROX or qualify for the Elite 15, these benchmarks will help you set realistic goals.

Why there isn't one "good" HYROX time
HYROX attracts everyone from first-time gym-goers to professional endurance athletes.
Your finish time depends on several factors, including:
- Running pace
- Strength endurance
- Race strategy
- Transition efficiency
- Competition experience
Instead of comparing yourself with the overall winner, it's more useful to compare your performance with athletes at a similar experience level.
What is the HYROX world record?
HYROX has different divisions, so there isn't one single world-record time that tells the whole story.
As of August 2026, the fastest overall men's Open time is 50:38, while the current HYROX Pro records are:
Division | World record | Athlete |
Men's Open | 50:38 | Alexander Rončević |
Men's Pro | 51:59 | Alexander Rončević |
Women's Pro | 54:25 | Joanna Wietrzyk |
Alexander Rončević became the first man to break the 52-minute barrier with his 51:59 Pro performance in Warsaw in April 2026. Joanna Wietrzyk set the women's Pro record at the same event with 54:25.
The Open record is faster because the Open division uses lighter workout weights than Pro. That means you should not compare an Open time directly with a Pro time.
These times are exceptional outliers achieved by the world's best HYROX athletes and are not realistic targets for most competitors. In comparison, our analysis of the official HYROX Jakarta and Sydney 2026 results shows that most recreational athletes finish between 80 and 110 minutes, depending on their division and experience level.
This means finishing HYROX in under 90 minutes is already an excellent performance for most recreational athletes, even though it's still well behind professional race pace.
HYROX finish time benchmarks
Rather than relying on opinions, we analyzed finish times from HYROX Jakarta 2026 and HYROX Sydney 2026 to understand how athletes actually performed across different race categories.
These two races represent different regions and athlete populations, yet both showed remarkably similar performance distributions. That consistency makes them a useful reference for setting realistic HYROX goals.
Editor's note: The benchmarks below are intended as practical performance ranges rather than mathematical averages. Finish times naturally vary based on race conditions, course flow, and athlete experience.
Performance level | Finish time |
Elite | Under 60 min |
Advanced | 60–75 min |
Intermediate | 75–95 min |
Beginner | 95–120 min |
First-time finisher | 120+ min |
What this means:
The largest group of athletes in both Jakarta and Sydney finished between roughly 75 and 110 minutes, making this the most realistic target range for recreational competitors.
Breaking the 90-minute barrier is already a strong achievement.

HYROX Open Women
Most recreational female athletes completed the race between approximately 85 and 110 minutes across both events.
Performance level | Finish time |
Elite | Under 65 min |
Advanced | 65–80 min |
Intermediate | 80–100 min |
Beginner | 100–125 min |
First-time finisher | 125+ min |
HYROX Pro Men
The Pro division uses heavier sleds, heavier carries, and places greater demands on strength endurance.
Performance level | Finish time |
Elite | Under 60 min |
Competitive | 60–70 min |
Advanced | 70–85 min |
Strong finisher | 85+ min |
Winning times in both Jakarta and Sydney were remarkably close, with champions finishing in around 55 minutes, while the majority of competitors finished between 70 and 90 minutes.
HYROX Pro Women
Performance level | Finish time |
Elite | Under 65 min |
Competitive | 65–75 min |
Advanced | 75–90 min |
Strong finisher | 90+ min |
Despite the heavier loads, the overall distribution remained similar across both races, reinforcing that consistent running speed often separates the fastest athletes.
HYROX Doubles
HYROX Doubles changes the game. Instead of completing every workout station alone, two athletes share the functional stations while running all eight 1 km runs together. That allows teams to divide the workload, making Doubles generally faster than Singles.
But your benchmark should depend on which Doubles division you enter. Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles have different performance patterns, so comparing every team against the same finish time doesn't give you a useful picture.
We analyzed official 2026 HYROX Jakarta and Sydney results across Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles to create practical benchmarks for each division.
Performance level | Men's Doubles | Women's Doubles | Mixed Doubles |
Elite | Under 60 min | Under 65 min | Under 65 min |
Advanced | 60–75 min | 65–80 min | 65–80 min |
Intermediate | 75–95 min | 80–100 min | 80–100 min |
Beginner | 95+ min | 100+ min | 100+ min |
Jakarta vs Sydney: what the data tells us
One of the most interesting findings was how similar both races were.
Although Jakarta and Sydney differ in climate, athlete demographics, and race maturity, the overall finish time distribution remained consistent.
Across both events:
- Winners finished in roughly 55 to 60 minutes.
- Most competitive athletes finished within 70 to 90 minutes.
- The largest share of recreational racers crossed the finish line between approximately 80 and 110 minutes.
- Finish times extended beyond two hours, showing that HYROX is accessible to athletes of many fitness levels.
This consistency suggests that performance expectations are broadly transferable across HYROX races, making these benchmarks useful regardless of where you compete.

What affects your HYROX finish time?
Several factors influence how quickly you finish:
Running ability
Since athletes run 8 km throughout the race, running efficiency has one of the biggest impacts on overall time.
Functional strength
Heavy sled pushes, sled pulls, farmer's carries, and sandbag lunges can quickly drain your energy if you lack strength and endurance.
Race pacing
Starting too fast often leads to slower station times later in the race.
Transition efficiency
Small delays between stations add up over the course of the event.
Race experience
Experienced competitors typically move more efficiently through stations and manage fatigue better than first-time racers.
How to improve your HYROX time
Improving your finish time isn't just about working harder. It requires training specifically for the demands of HYROX.
Focus on:
- Running under fatigue
- Sled push and sled pull technique
- Wall balls
- Functional strength circuits
- Race pacing
- Grip endurance
- Transition practice
Combining endurance with strength training is the most effective way to reduce your overall race time.
